Fred Fisher lived in Hobart, Tasmania where he worked in sculpture and design and was an Honorary Associate at the School of Art, University of Tasmania.

Fred enrolled at art school in 1985 and first exhibited in 1990. He is represented in several public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Australia, and completed a PhD in Art in 2006.
